Hey, Stingrays!!

What a wonderful kick-off to our summer league season! Kudos to swimmers, parents, officials, coaches, volunteers, and officials!! I know we have quite a few new families joining us this year, learning about the sport and the league. We greatly appreciate y'all jumping in with great attitudes! And to our veteran families: y'all make it look easy. We thank you. 

This is our first dual meet, so I'm going to break down the stats. In swimming, the goal is, of course, to win, but there are a lot of ways to think about winning and plotting your path to get to a win. A win can be a mountain if you are in 20th place, but if you break it down to small wins, you can get there. ;) We want individuals to improve to be their best and for the team to bring home some wins!

Overall Results: Rattlesnakes Win Combined, Stingrays women win over Rattlesnakes women, Rattlesnakes men win over Stingrays men.

Windrose: 584.5, Rattlesnakes: 850.5

Windrose: 370.5, Rattlesnakes: 354.5

Men's Score

Windrose: 214, Rattlesnakes: 496

The Rattlesnakes had 130 swimmers while Stingrays had 110 swimmers. In each event, swimmers earn ribbons for 1st through 6th place overall. Those swimmers also earn points for the team scores as follows: 

Individual event points:

1st - 7, 2nd - 5, 3rd - 4, 4th - 3, 5th - 2, 6th - 1

Relay points:

1st - 7, 2nd - 3

The most important thing to relay to your swimmer, besides encouraging them to have fun with their neighbors (!!), is self-improvement. We award personal best ribbons to encourage the pursuit of individual improvement while also working toward the team goal. Attached are the meet results so you can see how your swimmer performed against their competitors as well as against their last race.

Ribbons will be distributed at practice, so be sure to attend!
